"The following image was released by the White House as a copy of
Barack Obama's actual birth certificate. What can be stated, without a doubt, is that the green texture on this image has been superimposed onto whatever the purported underlying document is. Whoever released this image, edited the image to make it look more authentic by having a "green textured paper" look and feel to it."

First of all, there is no doubt at all that the texture was added.
At some point they are going to admit this. What they will say is that
it was added in order to prevent tampering with it (like its a
watermark). But we'll get to that later.

When you photocopy an image, or take a picture of something which is on
a perfect plane (like a chess board), the transformation (excluding
intrinsic non-linear parameters of a camera) will project a line, into
another line. Ergo, its a linear transformation. The focus is on the
left edge of the document - where its curved. Lets make it simple.
Say its just creased at an angle (so the bars of the texture are on
another plane). You will see the lines of the texture change
direction in the image.

Take a look at this, which is not the birth certificate, but the
"Certificate of live birth"

See how the bars are bent at the crease of the paper. This evidences
that the texture is actually ON that paper.

In the birth certificate, the left hand side is curved -as if it was
taken out of a book or the like. So the bars of the texture should
follow the curvature as well. They don't. Which means someone added
the texture after the fact.
