It is amazing to me that the whole world seems to be waking up and
realizing the problem with our food industry. It seems that
conversations we couldn’t have just 10 years ago for fear our friends
would think we were total “granola hippies” are happening more
frequently. The awareness and connection between the rise in chronic
illnesses and obesity is finally sinking in. In a recent and very
interesting study, Ben Blatt of Slate Magazine revealed some interesting
statistics about offerings at Wal-Mart vs. Whole Foods.
According to Blatt’s research, Whole Foods bans roughly 54% of Wal-Mart’s fare due to the presence, in its words, of “unacceptable ingredients for foods.”
These 78 banned ingredients include everything from recognizable
sweeteners like high-fructose corn syrup to the tongue-tying
dimethylpolysiloxane.
The choices being made by Whole Food and other natural grocers are
now becoming much more mainstream and as a result, places like Wal-Mart
may begin losing ground.
For example, it’s no surprise that shoppers would be hard-pressed
to find a liter of Coke or bag of Doritos at Whole Foods, but Blatt
discovers that even household brands ranging from Minute Maid lemonade
to Cracker Barrel cheese are deemed unworthy for Whole Foods’ choosy

necessity, manufacturing methods and compatibility with our overall core
values.”

It’s no secret that the U.S. government is in serious fiscal trouble. So much so that our Treasury Secretary recently noted that should the debt ceiling fail to be increased, the fall-out would be “catastrophic” and last for generations.
Given that sobering report, consider that everything in America, from food to fuel, is subsidized in one way or another. Those subsidies are being paid with ever-increasing debt. It is inevitable that at some point the world’s reserve currency, the US dollar, will be wiped out. The trigger for such an event is irrelevant. What is relevant, is how average Americans will be affected when that day comes.
In recent months working Americans have seen their health care costs triple. But this is just the beginning. When America’s debt problems come to a head the subsidies will be removed, and that will lead to cost of living increases that will leave those who never saw it coming in a state of confusion and bewilderment with no way out.
Marin Katusa of Casey Research, who has met with business and political leaders in over one hundred countries and is one of the most successful contrarian investment analysts out there, has some thoughts on the matter.
For those with retirement investments like 401k’s, IRA’s or cash, Marin suggests you look to healthy gold companies as insurance. Back in the Great Depression of the 1930′s, as stocks crashed and then stagnated, those with investments in gold mining companies were able to not only preserve wealth, but grow it.

TEL AVIV — Just eight days after a terrorist attack in the city of Kunming dubbed “China’s September 11th,” a Malaysia Airlines flight carrying mostly Chinese passengers disappeared over the South China Sea.
While the international probe is in its early stages and questions
are being raised about the prospect of terrorism, investigators would be
wise to thoroughly examine the possibility of a missile attack in light
of recent information about the global proliferation of such
projectiles capable of downing civilian airliners.
Further, China has issued a series of warnings about North Korean missiles, including one that crossed paths with a Chinese airliner carrying 220 people just last week.

Surge in babies born without brains in Washington State
(NaturalNews) There is something seriously wrong in the fertile Yakima
Valley region of Washington. A surging number of babies are being born
with major birth defects, and the reasons why are eluding state health
officials.
As reported by CNN, a nurse in the area, Sara Barron,
was the first to report on a particularly horrifying condition:
anencephaly -- a condition in which babies are born without much of
their brain and skull.
"I was just stunned," she told the network
in an interview. "Three in a couple-of-month period of time... that's
unheard of, and they have such tragic, terrible outcomes."
Her
shocking finding and report eventually prompted an investigation by the
state health department. Investigators found some disturbing results.
Over
a three-year period, there were 23 cases concentrated in three southern
Washington counties -- Yakima, Benton and Franklin. That's a rate (8.4
per 10,000 live births) that is four times the national average (2.1 per
10,000 live births), CNN reported.
What could be causing such a phenomenon? Is it just one of those weird coincidences, or is something more sinister at play?
Mandy
Stahre, with the Washington State Department of Health, conducted the
investigation into the high rates of anencephaly. She says she and other
investigators are stumped.
"We have not found an answer, and
that's a very frustrating part, because this is such a devastating
diagnosis for a woman to have," she told CNN.
Barron, however, says she wonders if state health authorities did not find anything because they didn't look hard enough at all possible causes.
'We have to weigh how invasive we want to be'
For one thing, she said, the health department has not spoken to any of the parents of the babies who had birth defects.
So they don't know what the parents may have eaten, or what
environmental conditions they have been exposed to, or what kind of
chemicals or substances they all might have come in contact with --
like, perhaps, the pesticides that are routinely sprayed in the heavily
agricultural region in which they live.
Andrea Jackman, whose
daughter Olivia was born with spina bifida, another type of neural tube
defect, said she wasn't asked anything by state investigators.
"Nobody's asked me anything," she told the network.
So,
exactly how did the state conduct its investigation? Stahre said
investigators examined data in each parent's medical record -- what sort
of prescription drugs they were taking and preexisting medical
conditions.
"The study examined medical records from January 2010
through January 2013 and looked at possible risk factors including
family history, pre-pregnancy weight, health risk behaviors such as
supplemental folic acid and medication use, and whether the woman's
residence received drinking water from a public or private source. No
significant differences were found when comparing cases of anencephaly
with healthy births in the three county area," said a health department press release.
"But
medical records don't have details about diet or pesticide exposure,"
CNN's Elizabeth Cohen reported, "two key considerations for this type of
birth defect."
Indeed, the health department -- in its press
release -- even admitted: "Medical record reviews might not have
captured all information, preventing a cause from being identified."
So why not talk to the mothers?
"Well,
we have to weigh that," said Stahre. "This is a devastating diagnosis,
and we know that for a lot of these women, they had to make some hard
choices. We do have to weigh about how invasive we want to be with these
types of reviews."
Engineered end of humanity?
At
least one mother -- Jackman -- said she would have "been fine" with
being questioned. She wants answers so that other mothers don't have to
go through the same thing.
On the surface, this looks like yet another example of poisoning that Natural News

(NaturalNews) The water coming out of your faucets at home could be
teeming with a live bacterium known to cause a potentially deadly form
of pneumonia. New research published in the journal Environmental Science & Technology
reveals that more than half of all U.S. tap water is likely
contaminated with a bacterium linked to causing Legionnaires' disease,
the symptoms of which include fever, cough and chills.
To make
this discovery, researchers from the U.S. Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) collected 272 water samples from 68 taps across the country
over the course of two years. Upon analysis, 47 percent of these
samples tested positive for Legionella pneumophila, a bacterium
capable of developing into either Legionnaires' disease or the
less-severe Pontiac fever upon infection -- these two conditions are
collectively referred to as legionellosis.
As it turns out, nearly half of the taps from which water samples were collected, 32, were found to contain traces of L. pneumophila
in at least one collected sample. Of these 32 taps, 11 were identified
as containing the bacterium in multiple samples -- water samples were
collected from kitchen sinks, bathroom sinks, drinking fountains and
refrigerator water dispensers, according to reports.
"Nearly half
of the taps showed the presence of L. pneumophila Sg1 [Serogroup 1] in
one sampling event and 16% of taps showed it in more than one sampling
event," reads the study's abstract. "This study is the first national
survey in documenting the occurrence and colonization of L. pneumophila
Sg1 in cold water from point of use taps."
Though relatively rare, infections leading to legionellosis are mostly caused by L. pneumophila
when they do emerge, which supports the urgent relevance of this latest
investigation. If potentially millions of Americans are being regularly
exposed to a bacterium that could, in some cases, kill them, then
public health agencies need to address the problem, or at the very least
warn the public.

contaminated water during a hot shower, for instance, or from the
condensation of an air conditioning unit is a possible risk.

At the same time, Legionnaires' disease is said to only be contractedthrough airborne exposure, which means that drinking contaminated water
is not necessarily an issue. However, breathing in the vapors of
contaminated water during a hot shower, for instance, or from the
condensation of an air conditioning unit is a possible risk.
"If
your drinking water has legionella bacteria in it, you will not catch
[the disease] unless you aspirate the water, or during showers you
inhale the water mist," writes one CBS Philly commenter about the
study's findings. "You will not catch it from other people or
ingestion, unless you aspirate," he adds, a position also affirmed by MedicineNet.com.

28 Year Old CEO Of Bitcoin Exchange Dead After "Possible Suicide"
(Benjamin Jones) According to Tech in Asia, Singapore-based Bitcoin exchange platform First Meta’s 28 year old CEO Autumn Radtke committed suicide. Reasons are currently unknown.

First Meta is a Singaporean start up company that runs a exchange platform for virtual currencies such as Bitcoin. The news of suicide of its CEO Autumn Radtke spread on Facebook and Twitter, drawing attention from the BItcoin industry.
The exact reason that may have led to the suicide is not known, and whether the Police have concluded that the cause of death is suicide is also unofficial. First Meta has stated that an official announcement will be given by the company soon.

Navy Commander Who Interrogated Alleged 9/11 Terrorist Mastermind KSM Found Murdered

The death of a Navy commander found in a room at the Astoria Hotel on Feb. 12 was ruled a homicide, the Orange Park [Florida] Police Department announced Wednesday.The Bolivar Commercial reported in 2012 (my bold)
The Jacksonville Medical Examiner's Office made the ruling on Feb. 13 in the death of Cmdr. Alphonso Doss, 44, of Pensacola, according to the release from the OPPD.
Doss' manner of death is not being released at this time while the OPPD and the Clay County Sheriff's Office investigate.
Doss reported to Naval Education and Training Command in Nov. 2011, according to the Navy.
While in Jacksonville, he was on Temporary Additional Duty orders at the Naval Aviation Technical Training Unit.
Navy Commander Alphonso Mortimer Doss was recently promoted to his current rank in a ceremony held at Navy Operational Support Center Jacksonville, Fla.
Doss is a 1987 honor graduate of Ruleville Central High School in Ruleville.
Upon graduating from high school, Doss enlisted into the Navy.
He was later commissioned a Naval Officer in 1996 through the Navy Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of North Florida/Jacksonville University in Jacksonville, Fla.
During his naval career, Doss completed two combat Mediterranean deployments with Fighter Attack Squadron One Three Seven onboard the aircraft carriers USS Coral Sea (1989) and USS Forrestal (1991).
He also completed two secret counter-drug missions in the Caribbean and South America while stationed onboard USS Connolly (1997/1998).
The purpose of these two missions was to intercept illegal drugs being trafficked to the United States from that region.
In 2006 Doss was ordered by the Deputy Secretary of the Navy to assist in conducting the Annual Review Boards for suspected enemy-combatants held at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
There, Doss’ team was charged with interviewing detainees and conducting boards to determine if the detainee in question should be released, transferred to another facility or be recommended for continued detention at Guantanamo Bay.
It was during this tour that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed admitted to Doss’ team that he was one of the masterminds behind 9/11.
Doss has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal (2 awards), the Joint Service Achievement medal (2 awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal (6 awards), the Good Conduct medal (3 awards) and many other unit campaign awards.
Doss holds an associate of arts degree from Columbia College, a bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Florida, a master of business (MBA) degree from Trident University International and is currently a student in a doctor of education program.
