Radio talk show host and blogger Hal Turner was an FBI trained agent provocateur, his attorney told reporters in Hartford today. The supposed white supremacist worked for the agency from 2002 until 2007. “His job was basically to publish information which would cause other parties to act in a manner which would lead to their arrest,” Michael Orozco told the Associated Press.
Earlier this year Turner told his blog readers to “take up arms” against Connecticut lawmakers. He also said government officials should “obey the Constitution or die.” In June he wrote that the Illinois federal appeals judges “deserve to be killed” because they issued a ruling that upheld ordinances in Chicago and suburban Oak Park banning handguns. Turner included photos of the judges and the room numbers of their chambers at the courthouse"

On Monday, Pres. Obama struck back at powerful Democrat leaders in Congress who vow they’ll add $2 billion in funding to the defense appropriations bill for extra F-35 fighter engines. He said, “If Congress sends me a defense bill loaded with a bunch of pork, I will veto it.”
In July, the Senate added the federal hate crimes bill to the defense bill. If Obama vetoes the final defense bill, with hate bill attached, the hate bill will be destroyed, probably for this session of Congress.
Speaking to a convention of VFW veterans in Phoenix, Obama joined with many critics, including Sen. John McCain, in denouncing “indefensible, no-bid contracts that cost taxpayers billions and make contractors rich.” He lashed out at “the special interests and their exotic projects that are years behind schedule and billions over budget.” These include “the entrenched lobby pushing weapons that even our military says it doesn’t want.” He rebuked lawmakers in Congress dedicated “to protect jobs back home building things we don’t need [with] a cost that we can’t afford.”

The top FBI agent in Boston said today that the Menino administration should revive a controversial plan to arm neighborhood officers with semiautomatic assault rifles, saying the scarcity of such weapons on the force makes Boston more vulnerable to a terrorist attack similar to the 2008 rampage in Mumbai, India, that killed 166 people.
Warren T. Bamford, the special agent in charge of the FBI field office in Boston, said other big cities in the United States have made such weapons widely available to specially trained police officers and that the issue “should be revisited sooner rather than later” in Boston.
“There’s no imminent threats,” Bamford said in a meeting with Globe editors and reporters. But, he continued, “All things being equal, if a terrorist decides, ‘OK, we’re going to do something like what took place in Mumbai,’ well, where would you go? If you have a choice of a metropolitan city, would I go to New York, with 40,000 police officers, would I go Los Angeles, with 8,000, or would I go to Boston, with 3,500 … and I know there’s no assault rifles in the Boston Police Department?”
Bamford said he had spoken with Boston Police Commissioner Edward Davis about the plan to distribute assault rifles but not with Mayor Thomas M. Menino.

A new article in TIME magazine suggests that geo-engineering the planet may be the only way forward to prevent the climate “collapsing”.
Bryan Walsh’s article, entitled Can Geoengineering Help Slow Global Warming? suggests that through the use of fossil fuels we are “already geoengineers” and that “we might as well get good at it.”
“If we geoengineered the earth into a mess with our uncontrolled appetite for fossil fuels, maybe we have to geoengineer our way out of it” Walsh writes, citing a new paper by the think tank Copenhagen Consensus on Climate.
In the paper, co-author Lee Lane cites all the usual suggestions of how the planet could be cooled including space mirrors, seawater-mist and man-made volcanoes.
The most prominent form of geoengineering suggested in the paper, however, comes in the form of spraying sulfur into the air.
“One way to turn down the thermostat would be to spread sulfur particles into the atmosphere, either through artillery or with airplanes, thickening the air enough so that it would bounce some sunlight back …it would need to be done continuously, to keep up with the intensifying greenhouse effect.” the article explains".

WASHINGTON – White House spokesman Robert Gibbs insists the Obama administration has not shifted its goals on health care reform or distanced itself from a government-run public insurance option.
He said in a meeting with reporters Tuesday morning that news stories suggesting that the administration was ready to abandon the public option as it battles to push health care reform through were overblown. The rash of reports began after Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (seh-BEEL'-yuhs) appeared to signal the president was open to health care cooperatives as an alternative.

Republican Senator Charles Grassley of Iowa is worried about the future of talk radio. On August 14, Grassley sent a letter to Obama’s FCC chairman Julius Genachowski about concerns he has with the appointment of Mark Lloyd as Associate General Counsel and Chief Diversity Officer. Grassley discussed the Fairness Doctrine with Genachowski before his confirmation by the U.S. Senate and the senator was told by Genachowski that he did not support an effort to reinstitute the Fairness Doctrine.
Senator Chuck Grassley was chumped by FCC chairman and loyal member of the Obama commissariat Julius Genachowski.
Problem is, Grassley bought Genachowski’s promise. Genachowski knows full well Mark Lloyd wants to purge talk radio of its conservative ways.
In June 2007, Lloyd wrote a paper entitled The Structural Imbalance of Political Talk Radio for the Center for American Progress, a think tank run by John Podesta, a former Clintonite and head of Obama’s presidential transition team after the 2008 election. CAP is a Soros funded operation. It is also aligned with Democracy Alliance, a Soros organization that funds ACORN and the consistent money losing talk radio operation Air America."

The nationwide revolt against government plans to implement a mass swine flu vaccination program in the United Kingdom has picked up steam, with a poll revealing that a third of NHS nurses will refuse to take the shot.
Despite nurses and frontline health workers being the primary target group to take the vaccine, just 37 per cent of them said they would take the swine flu vaccine in a survey conducted by Nursing Times magazine. 30 per cent said they would not be immunized and 33 per cent said they were unsure.
Of the 30 per cent who said they would refuse to be vaccinated, 60 per cent said the reason was due to fears about the safety of the vaccine, following revelations that the shots will contain mercury and squalene and have also been linked with the killer nerve disease Guillain-Barre Syndrome. Another 31 per cent said they would refuse the vaccine because they did not consider the risk from swine flu to be great enough.
The government responded to the poll by claiming that nurses have a duty not to infect their patients and urged them to take the vaccine, but it seems that many fear the health consequences of taking the vaccine will be worse than catching the virus itself.
Interestingly, a London Times article on the story reveals that fewer than one in seven nurses in the UK receives the annual flu shot, highlighting the fact that health workers, who would be in a position to be well educated on the issue, are already fully aware of the dangers associated with vaccines in general".

When cryptic posters portraying President Obama as the Joker from “Batman” began popping up around Los Angeles and other cities, the question many asked was, Who is behind the image?
Was it an ultra-conservative grassroots group or a disgruntled street artist going against the grain?
Nope, it turns out, just a 20-year-old college student from Chicago.
Bored during his winter school break, Firas Alkhateeb, a senior history major at the University of Illinois, crafted the picture of Obama with the recognizable clown makeup using Adobe’s Photoshop software.
Alkhateeb had been tinkering with the program to improve the looks of photos he had taken on his clunky Kodak camera. The Joker project was his grandest undertaking yet. Using a tutorial he’d found online about how to “Jokerize” portraits, he downloaded the October 23 Time Magazine cover of Obama and began digitally painting over it.
Four or five hours later, he happily had his product.
