EPA proposing biggest land grab in the history of the world, wants control over everything
NaturalNews) Food freedom begins with land freedom, because if you have no control over your own property, you have no real control over what you can use it for, including growing your own organic foods.
And if the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) gets its way, what property rights you still have may vanish forever.
In a move that some lawmakers have called "the biggest land grab in the history of the world," the EPA is moving to commandeer jurisdiction over all public and private streams in the U.S. that are "intermittent, seasonal and rain-dependent," according to Alana Cook at WorldNetDaily.
In fact, she writes, the EPA -- along with the Army Corps of Engineers -- in late March released a joint proposed rule titled "Waters of the United States" in a bid to clarify just which streams and wetlands are protected under the federal Clean Water Act. A statement issued by the EPA said that "the proposed rule will benefit businesses by increasing efficiency in determining coverage of the Clean Water Act" -- whatever that means.
Some lawmakers are shaking their heads.
'Absolutely freeze economic activity'
Cook writes:
According to congressional budget testimony [recently], Waters of the United States would give the EPA authority over streams on private property even when the water beds have been dry, in some cases for hundreds of years.
House Appropriations Committee Chairman Rep. Harold Rogers, R-KY, said the "economic impact of that would be profound."
"A community needing to build on private land that had on it one of these so-called streams that you considered a waterway under the new rule would have to travel thousands, hundreds of miles to D.C., to get approval," Rogers said.
Rogers further argued that it "would absolutely freeze economic activity in this country."
So much for benefiting businesses.
Rogers went on to say that the proposal is "proof in and of itself of the mal-intent of this administration toward the private sector."
Later, when asked by Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-AK, about how the rule would affect the civil liberties of Americans and their ability to conduct business, EPA Administrator Gina McCarthey was elusive, saying only that the rule is currently posted on the EPA website for a 90-day public comment period and that the scientific basis for it has not yet been determined [read about the proposed rule here: http://www2.epa.gov].
Cook writes that the proposed rule "tinkers with the definition of 'navigable' waters, which was the central point" of a court battle between the EPA and the U.S. Supreme Court regarding the act.
"We are clarifying protection for the upstream waters that are absolutely vital to downstream communities," McCarthy said.
"Clean water is essential to every single American, from families who rely on safe places to swim and healthy fish to eat, to farmers who need abundant and reliable sources of water to grow their crops, to hunters and fishermen who depend on healthy waters for recreation and their work, and to businesses that need a steady supply of water for operations," she added.
Jo-Ellen Darcy, assistant secretary of the Army for civil works, argued that the nation's waters and wetlands "are valuable resources that must be protected today and for future generations."
"Today's rulemaking will better protect our aquatic resources, by strengthening the consistency, predictability, and transparency of our jurisdictional determinations," she said. "The rule's clarifications will result in a better public service nationwide."
'Uncertainties regarding agricultural exemptions'
As for the EPA chief, she explained that her agency is working closely with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to further regulate 56 more farm practices that are now considered exempt under the act.
"We not only took the exemptions, but we developed this interpretive rule that identified 56 farm practices, working with USDA, so that if these farm practices are what you're doing, you didn't need to ask a single question about whether they're exempt," McCarthy said.
Critics of the plan say that kind of over-regulation would mean that the EPA -- in conjunction with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the Energy Department and the Army Corps of Engineers -- would be able to "dictate on a never-before-seen scale everything from grazing rights, food production, animal health and the use of energy on private lands," Cook writes.
"We're hearing from farm groups throughout the United States about uncertainties regarding agricultural exemptions," Murkowski said. "They say it's not so farm-friendly as the statements that have been made by your administration."

NaturalNews) A woman who bought a bottle of Nestle's Pure Life Water says she was threatened repeatedly by a company customer service representative who allegedly told her she would "slice her throat" and "watch the blood drain from you" after the woman called with questions about the product.
As a result of the alleged threats, Shimrit Ellis, the customer, filed suit against Pamela Vaughan, the customer service rep, and the company, Nestle USA, as well as Answernet Inc., in Philadelphia.
According to court documents, Ellis claims she bought the water on Aug. 5, 2012, then called Nestle's customer service department to inquire about health issues related to fluoride.
"Shortly thereafter, plaintiff, Shimrit Ellis, started to receive very graphic and violent death threats by phone from an unknown female," the complaint states.
"By way of example, inter alia, some of the treats [sic] that were made to plaintiff by phone were, 'I'm going to slice your throat;' 'I finally found where you live and watched you go to work. You're going to die;' and 'People are going to watch the blood drain from you when I stab you with a knife.'"
"These are among many horrible threats to plaintiff," said the complaint.
"Pamela Vaughan was so outrageous in character and so extreme in degree as to go beyond the pale of decency as is regarded as intolerable in a civilized society," Ellis' attorney, Warren Siegel, wrote in the suit.
Ellis said she was receiving calls like that at least three times per week for nearly a month. Finally, she decided to report them to the Philadelphia Police Department.
At that point, says the complaint, "Plaintiff's phone records were subpoenaed by the police and the calls were traced to Nestle Tollhouse Call Center, which revealed they were being made by a female employee, later identified as Pamela Vaughan, to whom plaintiff lodged the original complaint about the ingredient/additive, fluoride, being in the bottled water."
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that, according to online records anyway, it did not appear as though Vaughan has been charged yet with any crime related to Ellis' call.
The complaint said Ellis was seeking north of $50,000 for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to this ingredients list, Pure Life does contain at least some fluoride.

NaturalNews) On the heels of its attempt to deploy a small army to Nevada in a bid to collect back fees from rancher Cliven Bundy, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) now has its sights set on grabbing land in Texas, only state officials there have a message for the federal agency: "Don't."
According to Breitbart News, the agency is currently reviewing a potential federal takeover of 90,000 acres along a 116-mile stretch of land along the Texas/Oklahoma border, even though the land is in private hands and has been deeded property of Texas landowners for generations.
Sid Miller, a former Texas state representative and current GOP candidate for the Texas Agriculture Commission, has since made the matter a campaign issue.
"In Texas," Miller said, "the BLM is attempting a repeat of an action taken over 30 years ago along the Red River when Tommy Henderson lost a federal lawsuit. The Bureau of Land Management took 140 acres of his property and didn't pay him one cent."
Miller was referring to a 1986 case in which the BLM seized some of Henderson's land. Henderson sued the agency but wound up losing 140 acres that had been in his family for decades. And now the BLM is using his case as a precedent to take tens of thousands more acres of privately held land.
'Come and take it'
That has Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott fighting mad.
"I am about ready to go to the Red River and raise a 'Come and Take It' flag to tell the feds to stay out of Texas," he told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview.
In response to the agency's intentions, Abbott has sent a strongly worded letter to BLM Director Neil Kornze, a former top adviser to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., seeking answers to a series of questions related to the land grab.
"I am deeply concerned about the notion that the Bureau of Land Management believes the federal government has the authority to swoop in and take land that has been owned and cultivated by Texas landowners for generations," Abbott wrote. "The BLM's newly asserted claims to land along the Red River threaten to upset long-settled private property rights and undermine fundamental principles--including the rule of law--that form the foundation of our democracy. Yet, the BLM has failed to disclose either its full intentions or the legal justification for its proposed actions. Decisions of this magnitude must not be made inside a bureaucratic black box."
'No such legislation was ever enacted'
In his interview with Breitbart News, Abbott said:
This is the latest line of attack by the Obama Administration where it seems like they have a complete disregard for the rule of law in this country ...And now they've crossed the line quite literally by coming into the State of Texas and trying to claim Texas land as federal land. And, as the Attorney General of Texas I am not going to allow this.
In his letter, Abbott challenged Kornze directly:
"Nearly a century ago, the U.S. Supreme Court determined that the gradient line of the south bank of the Red River--subject to the doctrines of accretion and avulsion--was the boundary between Texas and Oklahoma. Oklahoma v. Texas, 260 U.S. 606 (1923). More recently, in 1994, the BLM stated that the Red River area was '[a] unique situation' and stated that '[t]he area itself cannot be defined until action by the U.S. Congress establishes the permanent state boundary between Oklahoma and Texas.' Further, the BLM determined that one possible scenario was legislation that established the 'south geologic cut bank as the boundary,' which could have resulted 'in up to 90,000 acres' of newly delineated federal land. But no such legislation was ever enacted."
Abbott is running for Texas governor against Democratic state Sen. Wendy Davis.

The main point of the White House team’s strategy was to paint the terrorist attack as being “rooted in an Internet video and not a failure of policy,” Judicial Watch said in an emailed release. Meanwhile, the State Department — at the same time that message was being shaped — initially considered the incident simply an “attack,” and perhaps even a kidnap try, the watchdog said.
A review of the Rhodes’ email (shown below) shows it to be a possible “smoking gun” explaining how Ambassador Rice received the direction to blame the Benghazi attack on an internet video.
The email was sent two days before Susan Rice appeared on five of the Sunday news programs, Friday, September 14, 2012, at 8:09 p.m. with the subject line: “RE: PREP CALL with Susan, Saturday at 4:00 pm ET.” indicating that Rhodes was dictating the political line that was used for the Ambassador Rice appearance.
In the goals section, Rhodes gave direction that the purpose of Rice’s appearance was “To underscore that these protests are rooted in and Internet video, and not a broader failure or policy.”
Then in the “top lines,” section Rhodes returns to the You Tube video:
We’ve made our views on this video crystal clear. The United States government had nothing to do with it. We reject its message and its contents. We find it disgusting and reprehensible. But there is absolutely no justification at all for responding to this movie with violence. And we are working to make sure that people around the globe hear that message.
Copied on the email were all the major Administration communication and political personnel including: White House Press Secretary Jay Carney, Deputy Press Secretary Joshua Earnest, then-White House Communications Director Dan Pfeiffer, then-White House Deputy Communications Director Jennifer Palmieri, then-National Security Council Director of Communications Erin Pelton, Special Assistant to the Press Secretary Howli Ledbetter, and then-White House Senior Advisor and political strategist Davie Plouffe, so there is no way the White House can contend they were unaware of the memo.

A decision by the U.S. Supreme Court means the federal government now has an open door to “detain as a threat to national security anyone viewed as a troublemaker,” according to critics.
The high court this week refused to review an appeals court decision that said the president and U.S. military can arrest and indefinitely detain individuals.
The firm of William J. Olson, P.C., which filed a friend-of-the court brief asking the court to step in, noted that not a single justice dissented from the denial of the request for review.

Woman calls Nestle to inquire about fluoride in bottled water, recieves death threats for a month
(NaturalNews) A woman who bought a bottle of Nestle's Pure Life Water says she was threatened repeatedly by a company customer service representative who allegedly told her she would "slice her throat" and "watch the blood drain from you" after the woman called with questions about the product.
As a result of the alleged threats, Shimrit Ellis, the customer, filed suit against Pamela Vaughan, the customer service rep, and the company, Nestle USA, as well as Answernet Inc., in Philadelphia.
According to court documents, Ellis claims she bought the water on Aug. 5, 2012, then called Nestle's customer service department to inquire about health issues related to fluoride.
"Shortly thereafter, plaintiff, Shimrit Ellis, started to receive very graphic and violent death threats by phone from an unknown female," the complaint states.
"By way of example, inter alia, some of the treats [sic] that were made to plaintiff by phone were, 'I'm going to slice your throat;' 'I finally found where you live and watched you go to work. You're going to die;' and 'People are going to watch the blood drain from you when I stab you with a knife.'"
"These are among many horrible threats to plaintiff," said the complaint.
"Pamela Vaughan was so outrageous in character and so extreme in degree as to go beyond the pale of decency as is regarded as intolerable in a civilized society," Ellis' attorney, Warren Siegel, wrote in the suit.
Ellis said she was receiving calls like that at least three times per week for nearly a month. Finally, she decided to report them to the Philadelphia Police Department.
At that point, says the complaint, "Plaintiff's phone records were subpoenaed by the police and the calls were traced to Nestle Tollhouse Call Center, which revealed they were being made by a female employee, later identified as Pamela Vaughan, to whom plaintiff lodged the original complaint about the ingredient/additive, fluoride, being in the bottled water."
The Philadelphia Inquirer reported that, according to online records anyway, it did not appear as though Vaughan has been charged yet with any crime related to Ellis' call.
The complaint said Ellis was seeking north of $50,000 for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to this ingredients list, Pure Life does contain at least some fluoride.

time we have video of it, and pictures of it," she said. "I did post
the first picture of one cow [that] was shot in the back of the head
from a helicopter. I personally helped save a calf who still had an
umbilical cord attached to her as she was separated from her mom. It is
such a disgusting event ... they (BLM) don't herd cattle -- they
slaughter cattle."
"If you look at the stewardship of land, and
herding of cattle, first of all these particular cattle that were
grazing on 600,000 acres -- understand that when the Bundy family would
herd their own cattle, there would be water taps to where the cattle
would go down to the water and herd them humbly and softly -- no
cruelty, no abuse, herding them to where the cattle could get injured,"
Fiore continued. "We now have an evidenced-based argument with how the
BLM cannot take care of that cattle. We have cows giving birth (in the
federal pen) where baby calves have been stepped [on] and killed."
"They
herd animals with helicopters, ATV's and shotguns... If any cows get
out of line, the get a bullet to the back of the head," she added. "Make
sure the BLM are off state land and make sure the BLM are not allowed
to herd cattle again".
She said she observed, near the BLM's "compound" adjacent to the Bundy ranch, that personnel there were "digging holes."
"They
tried to bury some cows on the compound," she said, "but I guess they
didn't dig the hole deep enough." She said the legs of some cows were
"sticking up out of the dirt."

journalists from taking any more video of the BLM's makeshift "bovine

of the BLM compound and concentration camp was taken by a citizen

that they claimed emergency authority over the entire ranch, public
roads and now the airspace too.

to the airspace over the Bundy Ranch. This directive by the BLM has no

of cattle into tiny "bovine concentration camps" that will inevitably

have also been reports of BLM bringing large equipment (excavators and
trucks) to the ranch in a move believed to be based on the need to bury the many cattle that BLM has already killed or caused to be killed. According to this article in the Washington Free Beacon,
the BLM won't confirm or deny that they've already killed many cattle.
"We do have a protocol in terms of when we would euthanize animals," BLM
state director Amy Lueders said, "But we don’t have any answers at this
time in terms of the numbers."

hundred of armed men who assault protesters -- merely to "save the
tortoises."
Yet if this is really about saving animals, it makes no sense to kill cattle to save tortoises.

this was about nothing more than "the government trying to move some
cattle, and people aren't happy." See, when this armed siege does earn

The Bureau of Land Management, whose director was Sen. Harry Reid’s (D-Nev.) former senior adviser, has purged documents from its web site stating that the agency wants Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s cattle off of the land his family has worked for over 140 years in order to make way for solar panel power stations.
Deleted from BLM.gov but reposted for posterity by the Free Republic,
the BLM document entitled “Cattle Trespass Impacts” directly states
that Bundy’s cattle “impacts” solar development, more specifically the
construction of “utility-scale solar power generation facilities” on “public lands.”
“Non-Governmental Organizations have expressed concern that the regional mitigation strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone utilizes Gold Butte as the location for offsite mitigation for impacts from solar development, and that those restoration activities are not durable with the presence of trespass cattle,” the document states.
Another BLM report entitled “Regional Mitigation Strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone” (BLM Technical Note 444)
reveals that Bundy’s land in question is within the “Dry Lake Solar
Energy Zone and surrounding area” which is part of a broad U.S.
Department of Energy program for “Solar Energy Development in Six
Southwestern States” on land “managed” by BLM.
“In 2012, the BLM and the U.S. Department of Energy published the Final Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (PEIS) for Solar Energy Development in Six Southwestern States,”
the report reads. “The Final Solar Programmatic Environmental Impact
Statement assessed the impact of utility-scale solar energy development
on public lands in the six southwestern states of Arizona, California,
Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah.”
“The Approved Resource Management Plan Amendments/Record of Decision (ROD) for Solar Energy Development in Six Southwestern States
implemented a comprehensive solar energy program for public lands in
those states and incorporated land use allocations and programmatic and
SEZ-specific design features into land use plans in the six-state study
area.”
Back in 2012, the New American reported that Harry Reid’s son, Rory Reid, was the chief representative for a Chinese energy firm planning to build a $5-billion solar plant on public land in Laughlin, Nevada.
And journalist Marcus Stern with Reuters also reported that Sen. Reid was heavily involved in the deal as well.
“[Reid] and his oldest son, Rory, are both involved in an effort by a Chinese energy giant, ENN Energy Group, to build a $5 billion solar farm and panel manufacturing plant in the southern Nevada desert,” he wrote. “Reid has been one of the project’s most prominent advocates, helping recruit the company during a 2011 trip to China and applying his political muscle on behalf of the project in Nevada.”
“His son, a lawyer with a prominent Las Vegas firm that is representing ENN, helped it locate a 9,000-acre (3,600-hectare) desert site that it is buying well below appraised value from Clark County, where Rory Reid formerly chaired the county commission.”
Although these reports are in plain view, the mainstream media has so far ignored this link.
The BLM’s official reason for encircling the Bundy family with sniper teams and helicopters was to protect the endangered desert tortoise, which the agency has previously been killing in mass due to “budget constraints.”
“A tortoise isn’t the reason why BLM is harassing a 67 year-old rancher; they want his land,” journalist Dana Loesch wrote. “The tortoise wasn’t of concern when [U.S. Senator] Harry Reid worked with BLM to literally change the boundaries of the tortoise’s habitat to accommodate the development of his top donor, Harvey Whittemore.”
“Reid is accused of using the new BLM chief as a puppet to control Nevada land (already over 84% of which is owned by the federal government) and pay back special interests,” she added. “BLM has proven that they’ve a situational concern for the desert tortoise as they’ve had no problem waiving their rules concerning wind or solar power development. Clearly these developments have vastly affected a tortoise habitat more than a century-old, quasi-homesteading grazing area.”
“If only Cliven Bundy were a big Reid donor.”

is all about protecting an "endangered tortoise." But a Natural News
investigation has found that BLM is actually in the business of raking
in millions of dollars by leasing Nevada lands to energy companies that

This document from the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology(1)
shows significant exploratory drilling being conducted in precisely the
same area where the Bundy family has been running cattle since the
1870's. The "Gold Butte" area is indicated on the lower right corner of
the document (see below), and it clearly shows numerous exploratory
drilling operations have been conducted there.
What's also clear is that oil has been found in nearby areas and possibly even within the Gold Butte area itself.
It
is, of course, customary for the U.S. government to bring armed
soldiers to an oil dispute. (Operation "Iraqi Freedom" for starters...)
Heavily armed snipers, helicopters and militarized soldiers have never
been invoked over tortoises. (Anyone who thinks this siege is about
reptiles is kidding themselves.)

and gas leases in Nevada. This was just reported two weeks ago in ShaleReporter.com, which states:
U.S.
Bureau of Land Management geologist Lorenzo Trimble tells the Las Vegas
Review-Journal the Elko County oil and gas leases sold Tuesday for
$1.27 million to six different companies. The auction took place in
Reno. The leases are near where Houston-based Noble Energy Inc. wants to
drill for oil and natural gas on 40,000 acres of public and private
land near the town of Wells. The Review-Journal reports the project
would be the first in Nevada to use hydraulic fracturing, or fracking,
to extract oil and gas from shale deposits.
The way this works, of course, is that BLM runs land theft operations
by claiming they are "managing" the land and thereby kicking everyone
else off it. They then invoke a reptile, an owl, a bird, a snake or some
other animal which they claim to be "saving," even while they are
stealing and destroying hundreds of cattle belonging to a private
rancher trying to make an honest living in a nation where productive
Americans are increasingly branded "enemies of the state."
Once
control of the land is established via court order or by bringing armed
men with automatic weapons, BLM then turns around and leases the land to fracking companies
who proceed to exploit the land using hydraulic fracturing techniques
that inject toxic chemicals into groundwater supplies (and have been
linked to earthquakes). The money collected by the BLM is then used to increase BLM salaries and bonuses.
In
essence, the BLM is a criminal mafia racket, and Cliven Bundy just
happened to be in the way of their next target, the Gold Butte area of
Nevada. That is why they brought hundreds of heavily armed men to a "save the tortoise" operation.
